AP Biology: Unit 3
Cellular Energetics
Textbook— Ch 8, 9, 10
12- 16% of AP Exam
Without energy, life would be extinguished instantaneously, and the cellular fabric would collapse.
Can you…
3.1
Describe the properties of enzymes?
3.2
Explain how enzymes affect the rate of biological reactions?
3.3
Explain how changes to the structure of an enzyme may affect its function?
Explain how the cellular environment affects enzyme activity?
3.4
Describe the role of energy in living organisms?
3.5
Describe the photosynthetic processes that allow organisms to capture and store energy?
Explain how cells capture energy from light and transfer it to biological molecules for storage and use?
3.6
Describe the processes that allow organisms to use energy stored in biological macromolecules?
Explain how cells obtain energy from biological macromolecules in order to power cellular functions?
3.7
Explain the connection between variation in the number and types of molecules within cells to the ability of the organism to survive and/or reproduce in different environments?

Intro to Cell Cycle and Regulation
I am out today, so you’ll work to get the basics of the cell cycle and its importance! You got this! You should:
1. Watch this linked Ted-Ed video to get an idea of the cell cycle’s role in cancer.
2. Watch/take notes on Daily Videos 4.6 1 & 2 and 4.7 in AP Classroom. You are welcome to move around the room/use headphones to watch!
3. Individually or with a partner, work on the AP Questions labeled “Cell Cycle Practice.” If you want to practice timed conditions, you should allot yourself 10 min 30 seconds to complete the 7 total questions!
4. Pat yourself on the back for a good day’s work!
